About Us:
It is Precision Ballistic's mission to design and HAND-swage the most precise world-class 6mm custom bullets possible for the benchrest shooting community. Precision Ballistics LLC is a company manufacturing precision custom benchrest bullets. I have been shooting and reloading for over 25 years. My desire to manufacture precision bullets has now been realized by establishing this firm. Precision Ballistics LLC is a one person enterprise which allows me to have total control over the quality control of my products. I manufacture and QC each bullet one at a time by HAND. I make them like I would want them made if I bought them. Please order in advance so you will have plenty for the whole season.
My name is Don Lahr, and my moniker on the shooting forums is "Bughole". |
I like to shoot my 6mmBR at 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 and 600 yards. At 100 yards I shoot at a sheet of printer paper with 20 yellow 5/8" targets per page, which I make on my computer (example of one such target below). In case you're wondering why I didn't hit the center of the target in the picture, I adjust my windage and elevation just a little off of the 1/8" black center dot to allow me to maintain my point of aim (POA). In this case I want my point of aim and point of impact to be just a little bit different. Once you shoot away your POA it is harder to have a precise POI. Here is one where I put five bullets through the same hole, which measured 0.292" at the widest. Subtract 0.243" for the diameter of the bullets shot, and you get a 0.049" group. You may be able to beat this one. Try my bullets and see what you can do with them!

The following photos are of what I used to call my Target VLDs but I have changed these to be my Hunting VLDs because they use the standard J4 jackets. I am getting re-tooled to build the same bullets only with the thick wall J4 jackets, and I will call those my Target VLDs. Pictures will be posted after I make them. A photo of my 90gr Hunting VLDs. My Hunting VLDs are the same bullet as my Target VLDs except they are built with standard J4 jackets. Recommended twist rate is 10". |
Here are my 95gr Hunting VLDs. Both my 90gr and 95gr VLDs are built with 1.050" J4 jackets. Recommended twist of 9". |
An example of my 103gr Hunting VLDs. I build my 103gr, 105gr and 108gr VLDs with 1.150" J4 jackets. Recommended twist for my 103gr is 8". |
My 105gr Hunting VLDs. All my VLDs have a tangent 15 ogive. A tangent ogive is much less finicky about seating depths as a secant ogive, so just seat them 0.005"-0.015" jammed depending on your rifle. 8" twist rate. |
My 108gr Hunting VLDs buck the wind well for long ranges. My Savage likes me to jam these at 0.005". Use an 8" twist. |
These are my 113gr Hunting VLDs. These buck the wind great and while I recommend a 7" twist, they stabilize fine in my Savage 8" twist barrel. |
Here are the longest 6mm bullets I make, my 115gr HVLD. These buck the wind the best of all my bullets and are designed for shooting long ranges. A 7" twist is recommended. |
At the Range
Company history:
Precision Ballistics LLC grew from my desire to have a more perfect bullet available for benchrest and varmint shooting. I enjoy shooting at benchrest matches, as well as the VHA Jamboree, the Midwest Regional VHA Match, Eastern Regional VHA Match and the Western PA Long Range Groundhog Match. Varmint hunters require a high level of accuracy and precision as well as benchrest shooters, and dead-on long-range shooting is now possible with my bullets. My target bullets are also very "Fur-Friendly!" Whether you require light weight bullets for your 1:14" twist 6mm rifle, mid-weight bullets for your 1:12" or 1:10" twist 6mm rifle, or heavy bullets for your 1:8" twist or 1:7" twist 6mm rifle, Precision Ballistics LLC can provide the bullets you need. I now produce a VLD design bullet in 90gr, 95gr, 103gr, 105gr, 108gr, 113gr and 115gr.
