Welcome:

I hope to be able to start working on my existing orders as soon as I have a shop again. My offer has been accepted on a home on a four acre parcel next to the west side of Mingus Mountain, which is part of the Black Hills in northern Arizona. I should get possession in October. I have to figure the next few weeks will be busy looking at new furniture etc. with my wife and building my workshop. Hopefully I'll be back up mid October. I'll announce here when I'm in a position to start building bullets again....

Even though my shop is still on "hold" for a while longer, I do have 12,000 bullets in inventory that I could certainly sell. Supplies in some styles are sold out, and some are in very limited supply, but most are in good supply. The 103gr, 105gr and 108gr VLDs are sold out but I do have some 113gr and 115gr. While I may not be able to assure that I can fill all orders, please email me from my Contact page or call me at 765-461-7359 to see if I have what you are needing and I will do my best to fill orders from my existing inventory.   Don

You have discovered the site where you can buy the finest, most accurate, world-class precision 6mm (.243) custom benchrest, longrange & varmint bullets on the market! I make bullets only. This is not loaded ammunition!

These are the bullets you want when 0.001" makes the difference between winning or losing the competition! I carefully HAND MAKE each bullet one at a time in my shop in Prescott Valley, AZ, USA. I get to know the inside and outside of every bullet PERSONALLY...no robotics nor conveyor belts here! My bullets go through a thorough quality control process. My bullets are:

  • Hand-inspected
  • Passed through Detsch carbide dies
  • Ultrasonically cleaned
  • Measured with micrometer
  • Measured with Brown and Sharpe digital calipers
  • Weighed with electronic scales

My attention to detail is a big reason behind the extreme quality of my world-class bullets. Of course, using Detsch carbide dies that are dead nuts perfect doesn't hurt either! Most custom bullet makers only make two or three bullet designs, while I offer you 31 designs for practically any barrel twist rate made! These things are what sets Precision Ballistics LLC apart from all the rest!

All bullets in a box are + .1gr. I offer, and try to keep available at all times, several hundred to a thousand of each of the following 31 designs, all in precision, match quality, 6mm bullets. Unless delays in getting lead or copper arise, I can usually ship your order within a day or two of your order! My cores which are prepared in advance in multiple thousands for each size bullet, are all squirted to very specific weights, based on the average weights of the J4 jackets. Various lots of jackets sometimes weigh differently, which makes the weight of my finished bullets a bit light or heavy, but all bullets in a box, or lot number will weigh the same as the rest of the bullets in that box or lot. It would be nice to be able to adjust the core weight to correspond with the jacket weight when they come, but that simply is not practical.

My die maker, Dave Detsch, has outdone himself once again on my VLD dies! They are dead nuts concentric! They produce a tangent ogive of 15, with a rebated boat tail of 10 degrees by 0.175". The pressure ring is 0.2434". My Hunting and Target VLDs were the same bullet up to now, except the meplat on my Hunting VLD is a 0.056" open tip, for better expansion on fur targets, while on my Target VLD, the meplat comes to an almost closed point, for an improved ballistic coefficient. Closing the meplat to a sharp point requires an extra step, using my Hoover pointing die for extremely small groups on paper at very long distances! I have decided to re-name my previous TVLDS to HVLDs. My new Hunting VLDs will use the standard J4 jackets, while I will use the thick wall J4 jackets for my new Target VLDs. This requires special retooling because of the internal diameter of these special jackets, and won't be available until the retooling is complete.

Precision bullets depend upon consistency, concentricity and cleanliness. Those are the hallmarks of Precision Ballistics LLC. My reputation demands that you receive the most precise bullets that I can provide, to allow you to shoot the tightest groups you can! I hand-swage 6mm (.243) precision benchrest bullets to serious competition shooters who insist on the most precise projectiles available.

Bryan Litz, Chief Ballistician at Berger Bullets, and author of Applied Ballistics For Long Range Shooting, has tested the ballistic coefficient (BC) of some of my bullets, which will be included in the next edition of his book. My new 103gr HVLD, 105gr HVLD, 108gr HVLD, 113gr HVLD are the first, but I hope to have the rest of my VLD designs tested in the future. The G1 BC is listed as a comparison with other bullet manufacturers, and is a lighter color, but the G7 BC should be used to calculate bullet drop at various ranges, based on the shape of my VLDs.

These Hunting VLDs have closed tips and are build with standard J4 jackets:
